Remuneration

As a sperm donor you’re entitled to receive compensation of up to £35 for each clinic visit. This compensation is to cover any financial losses incurred in connection with your donation. If your expenses for things such as travel, accommodation and childcare are higher then there is provision to claim for more.

Different clinics have different policies as to how and when you will receive your compensation. For example, some clinics only pay half of the £35 at each clinic visit and pay the remainder as a lump sum at the end of the donation period after the final blood test. To avoid any confusion, ask your clinic at your very first appointment what their compensation payment policy is.

Donors who are not UK residents

If you’re not a permanent UK resident then you will be compensated in the same way as a UK donor but you won’t be able to claim an excess to cover any overseas travel expenses.
